Music and Drama teacher

Music and theatre are Ms Chan’s serious passion. Ms Chan believes that the arts are great, if not the best, tool in supporting children's holistic growth. Ms Chan’s extremely interested in the interface between emotions and learning, curriculum design, and whole-person development.
Having been through three very distinctive education systems, it ignites her interest in exploring the role of a teacher, and different teaching methodologies. The three education systems Ms Chan had been through were the Hong Kong local education system at St. Mary’s Canossian School and St. Mary’s Canossian College, which uses primarily, in Paulo Freire's term, the "banking approach"; the international interactive learning approach she had in International College Hong Kong (ICHK) and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), which are based heavily on "problem-posing"; and last but not least, a fair mix of both at Goldsmiths, University of London. Ms Chan experienced first-hand all the pros and cons in these different education styles and she aims to cultivate a creative-based education learning environment where children’s holistic development is prioritised, by adopting a teaching approach that is tailored to their needs and ability.
