Music Teacher (Primary)


Invictus is seeking an energetic Music Teacher (Primary) to develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives. To teach and educate students according to educational needs, abilities and attainment potential of individual students entrusted to his/ her care by the School. Thus, optimizing the development of students according to age, ability and aptitude.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

To be responsible for all aspects of the social, physical, emotional, and educational development of a class of students within the Year 1 to 6 range. To work as an effective member of the school’s teaching team, carrying out duties within the classroom and the wider school, in line with the school’s plans and policies, and as requested by the Principal and management.


Areas of Key Focus

  • Promote and maintain the school’s positive ethos and core values in partnership with all stakeholders;
  • Create and maintain a safe, well-managed, nurturing, and stimulating classroom learning environment;
  • Develop, resource, and implement effective lessons and units of work, according to the school’s curricular programmes and philosophy of teaching;
  • Meet the individual needs of all students through a differentiated and responsive range of appropriate teaching and learning strategies, flexible classroom arrangements, and targeted support;
  • Monitor and assess student progress in all social, physical, emotional, and educational areas through appropriate or required formative and summative assessment tools;
  • Provide effective and meaningful feedback to students;
  • Maintain accurate and efficient records for student attendance, participation, progress, and future development;
  • Communicate student progress, or concerns of any nature; to parents in an accurate, honest, and respectful manner, through meetings, reports, and informal feedback;
  • Carry out in an efficient and timely manner, other academic related administrative duties including curriculum planning; marking, report writing, testing, student evaluation, and other tasks of duties according to the school’s requirements;
  • Implement any specific programmes and strategies, including the deployment of educational assistants, for students identified as having individual needs (IN), in co-operation with the IN lead person/Principal and external professionals or agencies
  • Carry out typical teacher-related duties such as playtime supervision or student interviews
  • Collaborate professionally and constructively with a partner teacher in shared class situations

Wider Professional Role
  • Participate in school projects and functions, such as training programmes, seminars, conferences, concerts, open houses, trips, residential visits, or celebrations as requested;
  • Take responsibility to lead a subject area or aspect of school life
  • Contribute and collaborate in policy and programme development at a departmental, school, or organisational level
  • Participate in the school’s professional development and evaluation programmes
  • Support and co-operate with all other members of staff as they carry out their duties
  • Uphold professional standards within the school community, including confidentiality on all matters with regards to the school, its students and families, and its staff


Job Specification

Years of Experience Minimum 2 years of Teaching Experience
Education Bachelor’s degree in Education, or degree in another subject plus a PGCE or PGDE or equivalent;
Profile of Competency
  • Love teaching and enjoy working with young children;
  • Highly responsible, patient, friendly, creative and positive attitude;
  • Dedicated to a stable and long-term career;
  • Ability to work in Hong Kong preferred (HK ID Resident or HK Permanent ID);
  • A completed Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) will be obligatory;
  • Demonstrate a high level of communication skills and strong problem-solving capabilities;
  • Strong ICT skills and high proficiency with educational and office software
Language Abilities
  • Native-speaker level Mandarin language capabilities, National Test of Putonghua Proficiency (PSC) Level 2A or higher is preferred;
 Professional Qualifications/Job License PGDE, TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, IELTS 8.5 or equivalent
